Reflections of Worth: An Afternoon of Connection, Conversation & Self-Discovery

On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the M. Ariel Love Foundation welcomed participants of various ages and genders to our Reflections of Worth: Seeing Myself Clearly & Choosing Healthy Love workshop at Sienna Branch Library in Missouri City, Texas.
What began as an opportunity to explore self-worth became an afternoon filled with meaningful conversations, creativity, connection, and reflection. And we couldn't be more grateful for everyone who joined us!
Understanding Our Worth and Its Connection to Healthy Relationships
At the M. Ariel Love Foundation, we believe that recognizing our worth is an important part of understanding what healthy love looks like.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored the meaning of self-worth and how the way we see ourselves can influence the relationships we form, the behaviors we recognize as unhealthy, and the boundaries we establish. We also discussed the connection between self-worth and abuse, creating space to examine how unhealthy relationship patterns can affect people across different ages and experiences.
One of the most meaningful aspects of the afternoon was the opportunity to hear different perspectives and engage in thoughtful conversations. These discussions reminded us why prevention education matters: understanding healthy relationships should begin long before someone experiences harm.
The Affirmation Mirror Experience
A highlight of the workshop was our Affirmation Mirror Experience.
Participants created personalized mirrors using decorations and affirmations that reflected their individuality, strengths, and personal worth. But the activity was about much more than creating something beautiful. It encouraged participants to consider what they see when they look at themselves, what messages they want to reinforce, and how those beliefs can influence the way they expect to be treated. Each mirror became a personal reminder that self-worth deserves to be recognized, nurtured, and protected.
Meaningful Conversations and Community Connection
Between creating mirrors, sharing a meal, and engaging in conversations, participants had opportunities to connect with others in a welcoming environment.
Having people of different ages and genders in the room added valuable perspectives to the discussion and reinforced that conversations about self-worth, respect, and healthy relationships are important for everyone. These are the kinds of spaces we hope to continue creating through the M. Ariel Love Foundation: spaces where people can learn, reflect, ask questions, and grow together.
A Special Thank-You to Ms. Tina Lewis
We extend a heartfelt thank-you to Ms. Tina Lewis, who graciously stepped in to support our workshop when our originally scheduled guest speaker was unable to attend.
Her willingness to show up and contribute helped us continue the afternoon as planned.
We are grateful for her flexibility, generosity, and support of the Foundation's mission.
Sometimes, community support is demonstrated most clearly through the people who are willing to step forward when needed. Thank you, Ms. Tina!
Continuing the Conversation Beyond the Workshop
Although the workshop has ended, we hope the conversations and reflections continue.
Our goal was not simply for participants to leave with decorated mirrors, but also with opportunities to think more deeply about their worth, their relationships, and the importance of healthy boundaries.
As we continue observing Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the M. Ariel Love Foundation remains committed to prevention through education, awareness, and community-based programming.
Safe love begins with understanding what we deserve and recognizing that respect, dignity, and safety are essential in every relationship.
To our participants, volunteers, supporters, and everyone who helped make this workshop possible: thank you for being part of Reflections of Worth!
We look forward to creating more opportunities to learn, connect, and grow together.
Safe Love Saves Lives. 💜
