This past weekend, the M. Ariel Love Foundation hosted our 4th Annual Domestic Violence & Me Workshop — “What Lies Beneath: Breaking the Cycle of Silence.” What an incredible experience it was!
This year’s theme encouraged us to look deeper, beyond what we show to the world, and to confront the things we hide behind. As participants designed and decorated masks, we reflected on how those same masks often protect our pain or insecurities. Yet, removing them is one of the most courageous steps toward healing. When we live in truth, we take back our power, and that freedom helps deter abuse by building self-worth, confidence, and awareness.
We were deeply moved by our survivor’s powerful testimony, reminding us how vital trust and safety are during the process of escape and recovery. Our Confidence Coach poured light and inspiration into the room, leaving each of us with tools to embrace confidence and walk boldly in who we are.
From heartfelt conversations to moments of laughter and reflection, this year’s workshop was truly special. We’re grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, or supported us, and to our partners at Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice (CSSJ) for standing with us in this mission.
💜 Self-love and confidence are powerful repellents to abuse. We all hide behind something, a wall, a smile, or a mask, but we each deserve to live out loud and free.
The Domestic Violence & Me Workshop is an annual empowerment event hosted by the M. Ariel Love Foundation each October in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The workshop creates a safe, interactive space for survivors, advocates, and community members to engage in open dialogue, healing activities, and education focused on domestic violence prevention. Each year features a unique theme that inspires courage, confidence, and self-love, key tools in breaking the cycle of abuse.
